“Ringing of the Steel” Western Heritage Contest

The Adams County 4-H Shooting Sports Council is putting on the 1st annual Ringing of the Steel Western Heritage Shooting Contest on Sunday, June 24, 2018. This will also serve as the state qualifying contest for nationals.

Join us at 40914 County Road 71 in Briggsdale. Registration from 7:30–8:30 a.m. and the event will begin promptly at 9:00 a.m. Cost is $20 per competitor.

(The previously announced invitational that was to be held on May 26–27, 2018 has been canceled. This Ringing of the Steel event is replacing that contest for the state qualification for nationals.)

Lon Hagler Range Work Day / Community Service Opportunity

The Big Thompson Bowhunters (BTB) is hosting their annual Range Work Day for the Lon Hagler Archery Range on Saturday, May 5 starting at 8:00 a.m. They will be tearing down all the butts, replacing the shot out bales, and then rebuilding the butts with new banding and wire. There will also be some general cleanup around the range. A lunch will be provided at 12:00 p.m. by the BTB and work should be completely finished around noon. Bring your bow and fling a few arrows when we’re finished.
 
4-H has been allowed to use the Lon Hagler Archery Range at no cost and in return we help with the range work day. Cindy Buckardt will be gathering paint so we may be able to paint more of the benches this year. The BTB has also installed a sandbox right behind the sight-in target range, so if you have any sandbox type toys you would like to donate I am sure it would be appreciated.
 
Dress accordingly for both the weather and painting.

Outdoor Skills Team Competes at YHEC 2018
Outdoor Skills Team Competes at YHEC 2018

Larimer County’s Outdoor Skills team consisting of three members competed at the 2018 YHEC & 4-H Hunting Skills Challenge over the weekend at Flagler Lake State Wildlife Area. The team placed 3rd. Jacob Grudle took first place, Katie Webb came in 5th, and Lacey Adams placed 17th.

Congratulations to all of the competitors who braved the snow and mud to compete!

We've set up a new system to notify you when practices must be cancelled. We'll be using Remind. With this system, you can choose to receive notifications by email, text, via the Remind app, or any combination that works for you.

If practice will be cancelled, notifications will be sent by 11:00 a.m. on Sundays.

We encourage all our parents, leaders, and members to join. To receive text messages, sign up via Remind by texting “@muzz4h” to 81010. Opt out of messages by replying “unsubscribe @muzz4h” to the same number. To receive email messages, send an email to muzz4h@mail.remind.com. No subject is needed. There is also a Remind app available for your Android phone or iPhone if you would like to download that.

(Even if you’re already subscribed to the Remind group for .22, please be sure to subscribe to Muzzleloader’s alerts as well. Sometimes .22 may be cancelled when muzzleloader can still hold practice.)
