Big Thompson Bowhunters Association is hosting a 3D archery tournament at Lon Hagler on Saturday, April 21. Registration begins at 9:00 a.m. and shooting starts at 10:00 a.m.
Participants will shoot 20 targets at varying distances, break for lunch, and then shoot the same targets again from a different position. You’ll get plenty of shooting in!
The fee for archers 14 and older is $10 for members and $20 for non-members including lunch. Youth 13 and under shoot for free, though there is a $5 charge for their lunch. Lunch consists of hamburgers, brats, and hot dogs with chili, chips, drink, and cookies as well.
Trophies will be awarded for the top 3 finishers in each class.
This is an opportunity to practice your skills shooting 3D targets. It is NOT a 4-H event.

.22 rifle practice is canceled today due to windy conditions. We'll move the range work to next week. Have a good day, everyone.
Our first outdoor practice is this Sunday, April 8. We want to make sure everyone is ready to go!
We’ll be at Clausen's ranch. The address is 12425 Buckhorn Road (County Road 27). If you want to look at GPS, do it before coming up as there is no cell service in the canyon. We'll have the 4-H sign at the road where you turn in.
Here are some quick directions:
- Coming from Fort Collins – Take Harmony west and around Horsetooth Reservoir on West County Road 38 E. Keep going about 3 miles past Masonville. The pasture is on the right side of the road across from the McC Ranch sign.
- From Loveland – Take Highway 34 west to County Road 27 and turn north. When you get to the stop sign at Masonville turn left. Drive about 3 miles. The pasture is on the right side of the road across from the McC Ranch sign.
Make sure to sign up for Remind. If we need to cancel practice this will be the only way to find out.
- To receive text messages, sign up via Remind by texting “@4h22” to 81010. Opt out of messages by replying “unsubscribe @4h22” to the same number.
- To receive email messages, send an email to 4h22@mail.remind.com. No subject is needed.
- There is also a Remind app available for your Android phone or iPhone if you would like to download that.
We’ll be doing some yearly range and shed clean-up before beginning our practice. Please bring work gloves if you have them.
Ian and Sam are usually out of cell phone and email range by 11:30 a.m. and won't receive last-minute messages until after practice.
Hope to see everyone on Sunday!
Jim and Jackie would like to change plans for the Western Heritage meeting this Monday, April 9. There is a great opportunity for us to learn some history from a local historian at the Loveland Museum/Gallery.
Loveland Historical Society will present a program, “Where's Toby: Forgotten Heroes of the West.” Throughout history a few names of importance float to the top: Lewis and Clark, George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Clara Barton, and hundreds of others. But, what of the millions of people who were the “background” for every historic event, those that made the history happen? The re-enactment by historian John Luzader explores some of the unknown personalities that were important to several aspects of our Western Heritage. The program is free and open to the community. For details, call 970-290-0169.
Please send Jackie a text at 303-548-6433 if you are going to attend. It would be nice if we could all go as a group, let’s meet in front of the building at 6:40 p.m. Please call Jackie if you have any questions.
