The shoot will be located at Swift Ponds, the Colorado Youth Outdoors Facility, at 4927 East County Road 36, Fort Collins.

Enter the facility from the entrance on County Road 5 and head west on the dirt road. Park on the south side of the main building. Walk through the building to the north to find the archery range.

Attendance

Only individuals who signed up via the SignUpGenius may observe. All others may not attend to keep our attendance numbers under the maximum requirements.

Once shooting is completed you will need to check out and exit the grounds.

What to Bring

Chairs—there is no place to sit.

Water and your own snacks, if needed.

Sunscreen.

Bug spray.

6 arrows. Archers will shoot five arrows at a time, and the extra arrow will be kept in a bucket on the range in case of a lost or damaged arrow.

Wear clothing that meets the 4-H and Shooting Sports dress code.

Masks are required for 4-H members and their families.

What to Expect

Arrive 15 minutes before your scheduled time and have your equipment prepared to begin. It Is likely that the competition could run ahead of schedule.

During check-in, all bows will be inspected.

Communication between parents and shooters is not allowed once the competition has commenced. No coaching during the shoot.

Each member will shoot a practice round at 20 yards. Then the shooting order is 40 yards, 30 yards, 20 yards, 10 yards. Each member will shoot 5 arrows per distance. Senior members will shoot 5 arrows at each distance twice for a total of 10 arrows per distance and 40 arrows total. Juniors shoot 5 arrows per distance for a total of 20 arrows.

There will be separate ranges set up for the Junior members and the Senior members.

If an arrow misses a target, there will be limited time to look for the arrow. Time will be set aside later to look again.

Shooters may use binoculars.

There will be no 3D round in this year’s competition.

Scoring Help

We need adults to help with scoring the juniors. Training will be provided. If we don’t have adults to score, this will hold the competition up. In the past, the members have scored themselves. However, due to our limited time this year, we did not have the opportunity to practice scoring at practices.

Results

Results will be posted on the Results page on the Shooting Sports website by the end of the day on August 3.

Most importantly, have fun at county shoot!
