Re-certification Required Every 7 Years for Shooting Sports Leaders

Certifications need to be renewed in each discipline every 7 years to ensure that leaders are up-to-date with the latest knowledge and skills as well as changes that have been made to the 4-H Shooting Sports Program. Previously there was a grace period for anyone who had been certified before the rule change. As of 2024, that grace period has ended. If you were last certified in a discipline before 2017, you are no longer certified as a Level 1 leader and you will need to complete recertification for that discipline this year (March 2024). We appreciate your dedication to the 4-H program and understand the importance of maintaining current certifications.

Registration for certification will open on v2.4HOnline.com beginning 6 weeks ahead of each training:

  • Morgan County registration opens on Friday, January 19,

  • Pueblo County registration opens on Friday, January 26,

  • Weld County registration opens on Friday, February 2,

  • Garfield County registration opens on Friday, February 9.

Please ensure that you are fully enrolled and active on 4HOnline.com before registering for certification training. Payment should be submitted to the Extension Office, and one lump payment for Larimer County will be submitted to the state. Please make checks out to Larimer County Extension and turn them into the office. The Larimer County 4-H Foundation offers reimbursement for the registration fee following one year of active participation as a leader in the Larimer County 4-H Shooting Sports program.

If you have any questions about when your certifications for each discipline with expire, please ask!

Enrolling in Shooting Sports for 2024

Enrollment for the new 4-H year is open at v2.4HOnline.com. There’s no hurry to finish your enrollment, but we wanted to mention a few items before you do.

  1. Upload your Hunter Education card.
4HOnline does NOT save your hunter ed card from last year. Please upload it when you’re filling out enrollment. If you don’t yet have hunter education, no problem! You can email it to be added later.

  2. Upload your Youth Handgun Form.
If you are enrolling in .22 Pistol or Western Heritage, you will also upload your youth handgun form. (You can download a blank copy here.)

  3. Click the “Pay by Check” button.
Regardless of whether you want to pay online or via check, you will click the “Pay by Check” button. Larimer County 4-H does not use 4HOnline’s system for payments, so “Pay by Check” tells the website that you’re paying outside that system. Then you must go all the way through to the end and click the “Submit” button. Please see this instruction sheet for help with the steps to finish the enrollment process and submit it to Larimer County 4-H.

  4. Submit Your Payment.
Submit your payment of $50 per member for enrollment fees via either check or online as follows:

    1. Send a check made out to Larimer County 4-H to the following address:
Larimer County Extension Office, 1525 Blue Spruce Drive, Fort Collins, CO 80524-2004

    2. Pay online:
Click here to pay online via credit card or PayPal.

If you submit your enrollment without your Hunter Ed card or Youth Handgun Form, you will need to email them directly to Pam Heeney for her to manually add them to the system.
