As you may know, one of our 4-H families was involved in a tragic car accident on Wednesday, June 7. 4-H Leader Kate Ulam was lost in that accident, and her son David McConnell suffered injuries but is recovering. Community members have started a GoFundMe site for the McConnell family and for the Ulam Family for those who would like to contribute. Community members have also set up an informational blog for updates on David. For those in need of support, we are aware of one mental health resource through the state of Colorado, but there are likely others available.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks you to donate to either the Livermore Wranglers 4-H Club or the Larimer County 4-H Foundation in honor of Kate’s memory.

Due to the recent weather causing practice cancellations, Muzzleloading is scheduling additional practice dates. Following are the additional practice dates:
Sunday, June 18 at 1:00 p.m.
Sunday, June 25 at 1:00 p.m.
Wednesday, June 28 at 5:30 p.m.
Wednesday, July 12 at 5:30 p.m.
Please see the Calendar for all upcoming dates, and contact the leaders if you have any questions.
Two Archery practices have been added on the following Tuesdays at The Ranch:

Participants must attend a minimum of four Larimer County 4-H practices to be eligible to participate in the Archery County Shoot. This gives you two more opportunities to reach this goal!

The Archery county shoot is quickly approaching on July 8th! To be eligible to compete in the county shoot, each member must have a minimum of FOUR practices.
We have FIVE practices left on Thursday nights from 6:00–8:00 p.m. at The Ranch. Equipment can be borrowed if you do not have your own. Please come out and join us for the remaining practices.

4-H Archery Leadership Team
This weekend is the Briggsdale Cowboy Shoot hosted by the Briggsdale County Shootists at the Pawnee Sportsmens Center. This is a great opportunity to get competition experience before the county shoot and Nationals.
Registration is at 8:30 a.m. on May 27 and shooting starts promptly at 9:30 a.m.

Montezuma County is hosting a Fun Shoot on Saturday, July 8, 2023 for .22 Rifle, .22 Pistol, Shotgun, and Archery 3D. Participants must be enrolled in 4-H.
Registration is due by June 1 with a fee of $40 including a t-shirt, prizes, and lunch. Click here for the registration information.
Here is the tentative schedule for our 4 remaining practices as promised:
May 25 – Animal ID (bring supplies to take notes!)
June 15 – Map work
July 13 – Compass work
July 27 – Fire building (upon approval)
The practice originally scheduled for June 29 has been CANCELED as I will be volunteering at the National 4-H Shooting Sports Championships.

Lastly, I know some members are interested in attending the state competition for Outdoor Skills this year, if you are interested, please let me know! Plans are not yet finalized for this competition, but it looks like it will be held either September 16 or September 23 in Jefferson County. I am working to get more details about this so I can update those who are interested ASAP.
