Hunter Ed Internet Conclusion Course on November 20

An Internet Conclusion Course for hunter education is being offered on Saturday, November 20 from 9:00 a.m.–3:00 p.m. at Colorado Youth Outdoors Swift Ponds. This course is for those who have already completed the Internet Course via hunter-ed.com.

(Hunter education is NOT required to take part in Shooting Sports in Larimer County 4-H. However, to be eligible to compete at the state competition, participants must submit their hunter education card before the July 1, 2022 deadline.)

Mark Your Calendar for 2022

The schedule for 2022 has been set for orientations, practices, and county shoots. The calendars have been updated so you can see all of the dates, or subscribe to the Google calendars for your disciplines to see them on your calendar app.

First comes the Orientation Process:

New Members

Members new to Larimer County 4-H Shooting Sports must complete the orientation process by attending an Annual Safety Meeting on Zoom first, followed by the In-Person Orientation second.

Here are the dates for 2022:

1. Annual Safety Meeting on Zoom

  • January 19

  • February 9

  • March 23

  • April 6

2. In-Person Orientation

  • January 29

  • April 16

Returning Members

All returning members are required to attend the mandatory Annual Safety Meeting on Zoom.

Returning members who are adding a new discipline must attend the scheduled In-Person Orientation for the new disciplines before they can attend those practices.

The official Colorado State 4-H Shooting Sports Championships results are now posted! You can find the breakdown of results for our Larimer County team members on our 2021 State Shoot Results page. And the complete results for all participants are posted on the Colorado 4-H Shooting Sports page.

The Shooting Sports Ambassadors also hosted a video spotlighting the top 10 placings and national qualifiers for each discipline.

Over 1,000 Colorado 4-H members participated in the 2021 State 4-H Shooting Sports Championships Alternate Format. Thank you for your hard work, dedication, and perseverance over the past year while staying engaged in your 4-H projects. I would like to take this time to congratulate each and every one of you on your accomplishments! A virtual awards recognition hosted by the Colorado 4-H Shooting Sports Ambassadors will air via Colorado 4-H Facebook at 5:00 p.m. on Monday, October 4th. All official Colorado State 4-H Shooting Sports Championships results, including National Qualifier lists,  will be available on the Colorado State 4-H website following the virtual recognition presentation.

Apply to be a Shooting Sports Ambassador / Due October 15, 2021

Colorado 4-H Shooting Sports Ambassadors represent 4-H and specifically 4-H Shooting Sports for public relations purposes at special events such as donor/supporter functions and with the general public, peer groups, 4-H groups, community service groups, schools, and media contacts. They serve as spokespersons for the 4-H Shooting Sports program, helping to make 4-H and the 4-H Shooting Sports programs more visible. The ambassadors further develop their skills in leadership, public presentation, citizenship, community service, public relations, and team building.

Outdoor Skills Invitational and Qualifier for 2022 Nationals

Jefferson County is hosting the Hunting and Outdoor Skills Invitational Contest on Saturday, September 11. It will take place near Morrison, Colorado and start at 8:00 a.m.

This contest will include rifle, 3D archery, shotgun, hunting skills, orienteering, animal identification, and more.

This will be the 2022 National Qualifying Event for Colorado 4-H Shooting Sports, and the top four seniors will qualify for the 2022 National 4-H Shooting Sports Championships. (At this time, we foresee this being the single qualifying event as we shift to holding only a fall qualifier for this discipline.

Registration is limited to 30 participants and will close by September 9. Sign up on 4HOnline today! The $30 fee per contestant will be due the day of the event.
