Attendance Restrictions Revised for Outdoor Practices

We are now able to loosen our restrictions a bit for outdoor Shooting Sports practices. Our SignUpGenius registrations have been updated to allow more than one adult to accompany members.

Please keep in mind:

  • Contact information is required for 1 adult per member including name. phone number, and email.

  • There is now a slot to list additional people who will come to practice with the member.

  • Additional family members who will be attending must be listed, stay with their family group, and family groups must stay separated from other family groups

We’re looking forward to seeing everyone at practices!

Practice Dates Added for Air Rifle/Air Pistol

We are happy to announce that we have added 5 practice dates for Air Rifle and Air Pistol. These practices will follow the same format we are currently using—14 lanes and 2 relays.

The new dates are:

  • May 6,

  • May 20,

  • June 3,

  • July 1,

  • July 15.

There will be relays at 6 p.m. and 8 p.m. Please arrive 15 minutes early to help set up the backers and staple your targets. Shooters on the second relay will help take down the backers before leaving.

Please keep track of your practices. If you have any questions about how many you have, email Kerri Larson and she will respond to you directly. Four practices are required to participate in the county shoot. If you are shooting both Air Rifle and .22 Rifle, you can count two of your .22 Rifle practices toward your practice count for Air Rifle. (This does NOT apply to Air Pistol and .22 Pistol. These disciplines cannot be combined.)

A couple of new rules due to the limited number of lanes:

  • Signup will open 30 days before each practice date in SignUpGenius. This is to give everyone a chance to sign up, allow those who do not yet have their 4 required practices to get slots, and still allow for additional practices for those who want them.

  • Please only sign up for one relay per date.

  • If you have already attended 4 or more practices, please wait until the day of practice to sign up. If you check after 10 a.m. on the practice day and there are empty slots, please sign up!

  • Finally, if you sign up for a relay, please be there. If something comes up and you are not able to make it, please go to SignUpGenius and remove your registration.

Thanks!

Payment Process for Shotgun Practices

We will be implementing a new payment process for Shotgun practices at Great Guns. We are going to have all participants pre-purchase rounds for each practice.

Go to the office cashier and purchase a card with the number of rounds you plan on shooting. You may be able to purchase multiple rounds and keep the card for multiple practices. These details are still being ironed out. Overall, this will make it easier for Great Guns to track.

If you have any questions, please contact the Shotgun superintendents: Cory Bensley at 970-690-1170 or Mike Conley at 970-218-8039.

Outdoor Archery Practices

Hello, everyone.

We have received permission to conduct Archery practice outside. When we practice outside, we will do it east of the East Pavilion on the east side of the fairgrounds. When you show up for practice, you will drive right beside it. You can’t miss it. (See the map below.)

Now it is early in the spring and weather may not cooperate. We will know where practice will be held by Tuesday afternoon. Just come as you usually do, but bring warmer clothes in case we shoot outdoors.

Once we go outdoors permanently, we should be able to have practice for more than 22 shooters and we may be able to do away with the one-hour time slots.

Thank you,

Scott Gillespie
Larimer County 4-H Archery Superintendent

2021 National Championships Moving Forward

4-H Nationals is moving forward in June. We’re excited for our county Shooting Sports members who will be going to compete: Carter Lyle for Recurve Archery, Walker Cameron and Nate Rogers for .22 Pistol, Nick Freeland for .22 Rifle, Charlotte Mick for Air Rifle. We also have two alternates: Heidi Acott for Recurve Archery and Tait Simpson for Air Pistol. Congratulations!

The National 4-H Shooting Sports Committee met on March 31 and made the decision to move forward to conduct the 2021 4-H Shooting Sports National Championships in Grand Island, Nebraska, June 20-25.

This decision was based on results of a survey of State 4-H Shooting Sports Coordinators in conjunction with a very healthy discussion of National Committee Members as well as Administration of the University of Nebraska Lincoln.

Please note that if health conditions in the state of Nebraska, Hall County and the city of Grand Island should change, it could affect our decision. As for now, it’s a green light and we will move forward with the planning.

In the next few weeks, we will make available all General Rules, Event Synopsis and Registration. In addition, expect to see Health & Safety Protocols for this event.
