Larimer County’s Shooting Sports program needs certified volunteers! This training will be held in Larimer County on March 12–14, 2021. Please consider registering to attend and volunteer in our Shooting Sports program!

The training usually costs $135, and the Larimer County 4-H Foundation will reimburse a portion of that after serving the Shooting Sports program for one year. The last time trainings were held in 2019, we received a donation to cover the cost to all Junior Leaders (14–18-year-olds).

If you are not currently a 4-H leader, call the Extension office now at 970-498-6000 to start the process to be a leader first. Then you can register for the certification training.

The ribbons from the State Shoot have arrived at the Extension Office. They will be sorted by club so that the club leaders can distribute them when they’re able. Congratulations to all of you who placed and earned a ribbon last summer!

Scott Gillespie has accepted the position of Archery Superintendent, filling the opening left by Linda Squibb.

Scott has a great deal of experience with the archery program including being the Equipment Specialist for the last few years. We look forward to his leadership and increased level of involvement in the program.

There will be a nationwide Zoom meeting featuring an introduction to the 4-H Western Heritage project. This project is a combination of 4-H Shooting Sports and a study of the American frontier from 1860–1900.

During the meeting, you’ll learn:

• What the project is all about,

• How to get started,

• The age levels of participation,

• The firearms used,

• The shooting range layout,

• Regional and national opportunities,

• About volunteer training.
