Pick Up Your Project
Pick Up Projects 2019.jpg

Project pickup is Wednesday, August 7 between 7:00–10:00 a.m. If you’re unable to come during that time, please find someone who can pick up for you. Any projects NOT picked up by 10:00 a.m. will be available in the McKee Building until 12:00 p.m. on Friday, August 9. Then they will be taken to the Extension Office in Fort Collins. PLEASE make every effort to pick up on Wednesday!

If your project received Champion and you wish to send it to the Colorado State Fair please be prepared to check it in Wednesday morning, unless it is a food item. Food items will be submitted on Tuesday, August 13 between 7:30–10:00 a.m.

If checking in your project for state fair this Wednesday, please bring materials to properly box the item for safe travel to Pueblo.

Please do NOT come to the McKee Building and simply gather up your project and leave. There is a check out procedure.

Labeling Projects for Fair

All eRecord books and projects including display boards, stand-alone projects, and other projects must be properly labeled.

Create a label in the following format with this information:

Larimer (636)
Participant Name, 4-H Age
Department, Class
Name of Project, Unit #

Place the label on the front of your eRecord binder or folder, in the upper-right-hand corner. Also place an identical label on the back of your display board in the upper-right-hand corner or on the bottom of your stand-alone project.

Your Name of Project is “Shooting Sports” and the Unit # is the discipline.

Stand-Alone Projects

It is requested that you write a brief description of your item and how it is used. Use an 8.5" x 11" page and include the name of the item as a title, and then how the item is used, and how it was made. Use a large font so it can by read from a distance. This is not required, but it helps the viewing public understand what they’re seeing when they come through to see projects on display.

Here’s an example:

ARROW QUIVER

In 4-H, a hip quiver is required. Bow quivers or ground quivers are not allowed. This quiver is made using PVC pipe to keep my arrows safe when shooting and when retrieving arrows from targets.

Volunteers Needed for Interview Judging and Project Setup
Help Wanted.jpg

As you all know the fair is quickly approaching and it takes many hands to help with our Shooting Sports program since it is so large. Cindy Buckardt is calling for volunteers on July 29, 30, and 31 to help with setup for interview judging day, interview judging day itself, and then setup of projects for fair.

July 29 / Set Up for Interview Judging

Set up the exhibit hall and classrooms for interview judging day. Start at 5:30 p.m. It should only take 1–2 hours maximum if we have a lot of hands to help.

July 30 / Interview Judging Day

Start at 8:00 a.m. and get done about 8:00 p.m. It’s a LONG DAY! On interview judging day we need help checking 4-H members in, getting them to their judges, checking in their projects and attaching ribbons, putting projects in the exhibit hall, and then cleaning up the room. If can even come for part of the day, it is appreciated. Lunch will be provided.

July 31 / Set Up Exhibit Hall with Projects for Fair

Set up the projects in the exhibit hall, check projects for correct ribbons, be sure those going to state have check-in information, and make the building look wonderful. Start at 9:00 a.m. and we’re usually done by mid-afternoon. If can come for part of the day, it is appreciated.  Lunch will be provided.

Please email Cindy if you are able to help!
