Orion Scoring for County Shoots

Some of you are familiar with Orion scoring that was used at the State Shoot in 2017. Larimer County 4-H Shooting Sports now has an Orion Scoring System and we will be using it for the county shoots this year. This tool greatly streamlines both the scoring process and tabulation of results.

For Air Rifle, Air Pistol, and .22 Rifle, the targets are scanned and scored by the software.

For Archery, Muzzleloading, .22 Pistol, and Shotgun, standard scorecards are used to record scores and then scanned to be scored and totaled by the software. We have scorecards for these shooting disciplines available for members to look over and use for practice, so you can become familiar and comfortable with them before the County Shoots and upcoming State Shoots.

Click to view and download scorecards here:

.22 Pistol Scorecards: Slow Fire, Timed Fire, Rapid Fire, Silhouettes, (Download All)
Archery Scorecards: FITA, 3D, (Download All)
Muzzleloading Scorecard: Combined
Shotgun Scorecards: Skeet, Sporting Clays, Trap, (Download All)

Orion Scoring Example.jpg

Here is a quick example of how to mark the scorecards. Fill in the inside, smaller portion of the correct bubble.

If you make a mistake or need to change a score, DO NOT cross it out. Leave the original, incorrect bubble and fill in the larger, oval bubble for the correct score. Then initial next to the shot.

If you have any questions about the scorecards or how to fill them out, please ask your superintendent or fill out the contact form on our home page.

.22 Rifle County Shoot – July 14, 2018

It is time to start getting ready for the Larimer County .22 Rifle County Shoot. This year's shoot will be held on Saturday, July 14. We use SignUpGenius to get everyone scheduled for this event. County Shoot is, of course, more formal than practices. Members will need to be registered for a specific time slot and tell us what class they are shooting as this makes a difference for targets and scoring.

We have 4 classes to choose from. These are based primarily on what sights are on the rifle.

Hunt/Open: Open sight, 4 positions.
4P: Peep sight, 4 positions.
3P: Peep sight, 3 positions, wear shooting jacket and glove.
Scope: Scope sight, 4 positions.

If you are unsure about what class to shoot, please see the .22 Rifle Equipment page or have any of the leaders check your rifle at practice.

This event begins at 9:00 a.m. and we’re usually done by 3:30 p.m. It will end with the awards ceremony, so please plan on bringing pop-ups if you have them, food for the potluck, water, lots of sunscreen, and chairs. We'll send more detailed information as we get closer to the date, but for now we would like to open registration for the members.
