Larimer County Members Travel to 2022 National Competition

Six members of Larimer County’s 4-H Shooting Sports qualified to compete at the 2022 National 4-H Shooting Sports Championships in Grand Island, Nebraska from July 26–July 1, 2022.

There were 391 total participants representing 39 states.

Colorado took 4th in the sweepstakes, the overall award for states who have full teams in every discipline.

We’re so proud of how each of them represented both Larimer County and Colorado.

Following are the results for each of the members, and their discipline’s teams.

Daiton Crego – Air Pistol

Day 1: Rapid Fire = 24th Place, Team 5th Place
Day 2: Silhouettes = 42nd Place, Team 11th Place
Day 3: Slow Fire = 40th Place, Team 7th Place
Overall: 37th Place, Team 7th Place

Nicholas Freeland - Air Rifle

Day 1: 3P = 21st Place, Team 2nd Place
Day 2: Offhand = 22nd Place, Team 1st Place
Day 3: Silhouettes = 3rd Place, Team 3rd Place

Jessica Laffey – Hunting Skills

Day 1: Wildlife ID and Archery = 14th Place, Team 6th Place
Day 2: General Hunting Skills, Map Reading/Compass, and Shotgun= 3rd Place, Team 9th Place
Day 3: Decision Making, Shoot/No Shoot, Compass, Rifle = 10th Place, Team 4th Place
Overall: 14th Place, Team 7th Place

William Silversmith – Muzzleloading

Day 1: 50-Yard Bullseye = 28th Place, Team 6th Place
