2021 State Championships to be Alternate Format
We have received word that the 2021 Colorado State 4-H Shooting Sports Championships will be conducted using an alternate format similar to that used in 2020.
State shoot will not be a centralized event hosted in Pueblo and Colorado Springs at the end of the summer. Instead, 4-H members who qualify will compete at a scheduled shoot at the local county level. Targets and scorecards will be submitted so that results can be compiled at the state level.
The following disciplines will have changes to the course of fire due to the alternate format:
Archery: No 3D targets will be included in the contest.
Seniors will shoot the course of 5 arrows per distance twice for a total of 40 shots. (Distances are 50 yards, 40 yards, 30 yards, and 20 yards.)
Juniors will shoot 5 arrows per distance once for a total of 20 shots. (Distances are 40 yards, 30 yards, 20 yards, and 10 yards.)
Shotgun: No Sporting Clays will be included in the contest.
The Skeet class will consist of three rounds of 25 targets shot in sequence for a total of 75 targets.
The Trap class will consist of three rounds of 25 targets shot in sequence for a total of 75 targets.
Combined scores for trap and skeet will be used to determine 2021 national qualifiers.
The Larimer County 4-H Shooting Sports superintendents and leaders are meeting soon and will release details and schedules for our county’s state competitions for each discipline. Please watch for more information soon!
